Quote of the day…

by Aileen

sun-rise“The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.”

~ Arthur C. Clarke

We’ve all been in the spot where we look outward with a wish in our hearts. The moment of hope and desire can move to a sense of longing and sadness.

Sadness occurs when we feel our dreams are out of reach.

Limitations appear so real, and it feels like if only you were unlimited then you’d be free to have your dreams become reality.

Stop that thought pattern!

In ballet we talk about the stretch reflex. This is the moment when we stretch that our bodies tell us they feel pain and we’ve reached out maximum and it’s time to get out of the stretch.

But… if we get out of the stretch each time it hurts (the stretch reflex occurs) then we’ll never achieve the split we dream of, or the perfect extension. YET… if we stay in the stretch, beyond the moment of failure, and we focus on our breath and not the pain while we hold the stretch for two minutes THEN… magic happens!

YES, over time little my little we get more stretch and within six to twelve months the split happens, the extension happens. We achieve our goal.

It’s easy to see perceived limitation such as,  “my body just isn’t flexible” and we can prove that it’s not flexible. But this doesn’t mean it’s not capable of becoming flexible.

We must push beyond the point of failure. We must not retreat at the moment we fail, or the moment we see we “can’t.” If it’s a dream in your heart, then there is a way. There is always a way!

It may not happen immediately, and your dream may change its form over time, but it’s essence will happen if we go beyond our limitations. Little by little and step by step, we can push a bit further and make the proper adjustments as we refine our process.

Then one day we discover that it happened.

We moved beyond our limitations – only to discover – that it is true:

“The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.”
